Alert: US Data Centers In Construction/Planning Exceeds 80 Gigawatts

ree

The American data center industry is growing even faster than the most optimistic estimates. The problem is... there isn't anywhere close to enough electricity to power them.

Key Points:

  1. The US data center construction industry is witnessing an unprecedented explosion.

  2. Total data center projects in all phases of development, is over 80GW.

  3. That is an increase of over 100% vs 2024, and about 700% vs 2023.

  4. 1 Gigawatt of electricity = about 700,000 average American homes.

  5. 80GW = over 50 million average American households.

US vs China In The Race For AI Supremacy

The US is locked in a race for AI supremacy with China, and it appears the key factor will be electricity production.

Unfortunately for the US, it stopped expanding it's electricity production almost 25 years ago, while China has grown like crazy.

For a variety of reasons, explained throughout this blog, and my book, the only solution to this electricity crisis appears to be modular, off-grid computing clusters.

This is exactly why I invented and patented a modular Solar Computing Cluster, and founded www.639solar.com .

They allow builders to scale-up, uninhibited by legacy grid and related supply-chain delays, which are significant and cause many projects to just get cancelled.
