News: Per Musk, China Crushing US In Electricity Generation Expansion And Decarbonization

December 20, 2025: Elon Musk shares data from ember-energy.org highlighting China's dramatic outperformance of US in every dimension of national electricity generation volume and composition over the past year, especially the expansion of solar power.


Key Points:


  1. China has built about 5x as much total electricity production as the US in the past year.


  2. Same for solar power.


  3. In the same time, China has decommissioned 66 terawatt-hours of coal power, while the US has increased coal power by roughly the same amount.


  4. The race for expanding electricity generation is the real race for AI supremacy, and China is crushing America right now.
